Period January 2004 until January 2008 154 pupils taught by Belvoir Vale Learners have taken Practical Driving Tests at Grantham Test Centre. Those pupils achieving a First Time Pass currently stands at 51%. You may be forgiven for thinking 'SO WHAT!'
The DSA published leaflet issued to all pupils wishing to take a Practical Test warns: ‘Most people fail their practical driving test’.
The DSA then provides prospective pupils with yet another warning about booking a Practical Driving Test: 'The pass rate for the practical driving test is only 43%'
So what does this mean to you? Well, out of every 100 practical driving tests taken only 43 people will pass and this accounts for people who take the test many many times before passing their test!
The DSA goes on to say: 'For first time candidates, it’s even lower.'
Although no statistics are provided for First Time Passes it is probably at least half this figure around 22% and if we were to accept reality where many people take 3 - 5 attempts to pass their test that figure becomes incredibly low.
Consider the typical cost of taking a Driving Test. The fee of £49 plus around 2 hours of instructor lessons to cover a warm up lesson and the test time in the instructors car. Each test costs around £95 not counting the time off work/school and the stress that accompanies each test.
So how does a 51% First Time Pass Rate with Belvoir Vale Learners sound to you now??
